The second Builders’ Jam the Zwier (2er) Crew organised was a real change of pace: flying a load of us out to Bangalore, India to build a skatepark from scratch. After the Germans and local crew had arranged all the logistics we turned up, en masse, intent on building the Holy Stoked skatepark within 2 weeks. It was an intense build but we managed a few days skating and even squeezed in one party. - and still finished on schedule. The team was really international with US riders Omar Salazar, Chet Childress, Al Partanen and Stefan Janoski joining the Zwier and Builder Jam veterans and a few new recruits, Adam Johns and Rob Smith along for the ride.

After the success of the Holy Stoked build in Bangalore the 2er (Zwier) Crew went all out and undertook a mammoth project in La Paz, Bolivia. Nestled in the basin of the city’s national park, this 2000sqm project was a picturesque site playing host to over 100 DIY skatepark builders ranging from experienced to first timers. Living on site in make shift shacks the various crews and individuals worked, ate and slept this build. Epic, stressful, most amazing time ever. Never again.

In 2013 the 2er (Zwier) Crew invited a bunch of DIY builders from throughout Europe to come and build whatever they wanted at their recently-granted permission build in Hannover. Somehow they managed to fund it, so all you had to do was turn up and build whatever you could think up. Not only that but there was endless hot food and cold beer. Very good humans with a great idea.

Dumb Skateboards are one of the few Italian brands I’ve worked with. They have a sense of humour that I can get along with, they skate hard and they also organise a good trip. In 2011 we travelled by road from Brescia in Italy to Istanbul. via Thessaloniki. Ale Morandi, Simone Verona, Gio Grazzani, Guilio Pietroiusti, Tom Derichs and Ferit Batir were the skaters in the van.

John Rattray brought a few Zero riders and photographer Joe Brook back to Scotland on a tour back in 2006. I jumped on to the trip at Glasgow and continued up to Aberdeen via Braemar. It was Zero rider Tony Cervantes’ first trip out of LA so we made sure to find some castles and mountains. Rick McCrank joined for good measure and subsequently smashed it.
